Sometimes it is not possible to communicate with an Infoman or server
directly (e. g. for security reasons). In this case, you can create a
SSH tunnel.
Currently you can setup SSH tunnels for individual Infoman and for
servers. To do this you need to open the Properties window of the
desired destination (Infoman or Server). You'll find the entry
SSH Tunnel, click on the ellipsis button to open the tunnel configuration.
The table contains all tunnel segments that are passed before an action
is really executed on a device. The segments will be passed in the same
order as they appear in this table (starting from top).
Assume you are using the IDM and want to reach a server named proveo
EFM 4 which has the IP address 10.38.1.26
Due to security restrictions this server cannot be reached directly
by it's IP. However, the server named Segment B can communicate with
proveo EFM 4 and Segment B can communicate with the server
Segment A. Fortunately Segment A is accessible from outside this
network and all servers support SSH-connections.
Since you've already added proveo EFM to your server list, all you
need to do now is to add the other servers to the tunnel
configuration like this:
Note that Segment B comes afters Segment A. The order in which the
tunnel entries appear is important!
Once you've confirmed the configuration you can perform all possible
tasks with Infomans and Servers alike. Be aware however that you must
authorize yourself on each segment with a password.
Viable user names and passwords must be known to you. While you must enter
the user name in the tunnel configuration, the password is only required
once you actually connect to the device over a SSH-tunnel.
Also note that the default port for SSH connections is 22. If the
tunnel segment you want to use has a different port, enter it in the
corresponding column.
+ button adds a new entry. All newly created entries
are invalid. You must provide the username and the hostname before
you can confirm your configuration. To create a valid entry use
this format username@host.
