Update Center

All Infoman Diagnostic Manager modules are maintained within the Plugins Dialog as shown in the picture below:

You can reach the Plugins Dialog through the menu bar, go to Tools > Plugins

How to open the Plugins Dialog

First run

Open the Plugins Dialog as shown above by clicking Tools > Plugins, the following Dialog will open:

Click on the Settings tab, you migth see an already configured proveo Update Center remove that one by selecting it and then clicking the Remove button. Also change the Check Interval from Every Week to Every Startup.

Adding an Update Center

Installing an Update Center with a plugin file (.nbm)

If you have an Update Center plugin file (e.g. idm_update_center.nbm) click on the tab Downloaded in the Plugins Dialog:

Now click on Add Plugins..., a file browser will open:

Select your Update Center plugin file (.nbm)

Browse to the Update Center nbm file and open it, back in the Plugins Dialog make sure that the Update Center is selected in the list of the Downloaded tab and click on install in the lower left corner, click through the installation procedure and let the Infoman Diagnostic Manager restart if it is necessary.

Adding an Update Center manually

If you have no Update Center nbm file stay at the Settings tab and click on Add, an "Update Center Customizer" dialog will open, enter a name for your Udpate Center and the URL to the updates.xml file of your Update Center, e.g.:

If you don’t know the URL to your Update Center, please ask your system administrator or an EFM administrator.

After you have entered your data close the dialog by pressing the OK button. If your Update Center is shown in the list of "Configuration of Update Centers" in the Settings tab you can close the Plugins Dialog by pressing the Close button in the lower right.

Installing Updates

After you have setup your Update Center you should check if your installation is up-to-date, therefore go to Tools > Plugins

How to open the Plugins Dialog

In the Plugins Dialog select the tab Updates, if you can’t see any updates click on Reload Catalog in the upper left corner, if you still can’t see any updates your installation is up-to-date.

If you see a list with updates ensure that all are selected and click on update, the Plugin Installer will open and shows an overview of all plugins that will be updated.

Click on next to update the plugins.

In this dialog you have to accept the license agreements of the plugins. Read the license agreements and if you are accepting them check the box "I accept the terms in all of the license agreements" and then click on Update to start downloading and updating the plugins.

When the plugins are downloaded there might be a "Validation Warning" dialog that say’s that the plugins aren’t signed or that they aren’t trusted. Just click on Continue and go on with the plugin update.

After the update of the plugins you should see a summary of the update, let the Infoman Diagnostic Manager restart to finalize the plugin updates by leaving the selection to Restart Now and clicking on Finish.

After the Infoman Diagnostic Manager has restarted your plugin update is finished and the new plugin updates can be used.

Installing additional plugins

Some features of the Infoman Diagnostic Manager can be installed separately, because not all users need all features, if you want to configure Infomans you should at least install one Infoman Distribution. For installing additional plugins like an Infoman Distribution go to Tools > Plugins

How to open the Plugins Dialog

Select the Available Plugins tab, if the list is empty you have already installed all plugins that are available for your Infoman Diagnostic Manager. If the list shows some plugins, check those plugins you want to install and click on the Install button in the lower left.

After you have clicked on Install you will see the Plugin Installer again.

Here you will see an overview of the plugins you have selected to install, in that case it’s just one plugin, the Infoman Software Distribution bundle for version 1.12.0, click on Next to start downloading and installing the plugin.

After the installation of the plugin you should see a summary of the installation, let the Infoman Diagnostic Manager restart if necessary to finalize the plugin installation by leaving the selection to Restart Now and clicking on Finish.

After the Infoman Diagnostic Manager has restarted your plugin installation is finished and the new plugin can be used. The Infoman Software Distribution plugins need to download some extra content from the download center after they have been installed, to use an Infoman Distribution you will have to wait until the resources have been downloaded, when the download of the resources has finished you will be informed:

Other plugins are ready after the restart, only the Infoman Distributions need to download the Infoman software, Bootloader images, kernel images and so on. After the download of the resources the Infoman Distribution is ready to use, there is no further restart necessary.
